Watch Rachel K Collier give Mary Spender a masterclass on Ableton Push in the final chapter 'Ableton in the Real World'.
Join Mary Spender in learning how to perform original music within Ableton Live; an incredibly versatile and intuitive Digital Audio Workstation made for macOS + Windows users. Hosted by Ableton expert and electronic music producer, Rachel K Collier.
This course is a step by step guide on how Rachel creates a live performance of a track using Ableton Live. You'll learn how to deconstruct a production and transform this into a live performance arrangement that you can perform on stage or record and film for your social media platforms.
Rachel will walk you through choosing your set up and demonstrate techniques on a variety of Midi controllers. You'll dive deep into the capabilities of Ableton Live's Session view and learn how to organise clips, map samples and live loop with Audio and Midi. You'll explore midi mapping in depth, live FX and be guided through audio routing so you can make sure it's only you and not the audience who listens to that click trick when you're on stage.
The course consists of 3 Levels to help you digest the techniques needed one step at a time and at the end of each Level you'll watch a performance and breakdown with the new skills you've learnt put into action. You'll have access to all the Ableton Sessions Rachel uses in Levels 1, 2 and 3 and access to the full production project she will be breaking down so you can follow along with the example project or you can of course use your own.
Though it is beneficial to have some instrumental skills whether that be on guitar, keys, saxophone or finger drumming you can also take this course if you don't play anything. You can still learn how to program a live performance.
One last thing before enrolling:
It is best that you have either a working knowledge of Ableton Live or you are familiar with music production and confident working within another DAW. If you are a brand new music producer who'd like to perform with Ableton then we suggest taking our first course 'How to Produce in Ableton Live' to prepare you for the jump to this stage.
Thanks for reading and we can't wait to see what you come up with.
